Bond Mobility
I created a brand system for Bond Mobility, a high-end shared e-bike company from Switzerland.
Design Idea
The BOND brand system is based on Swiss Design, celebrating BOND’s Swiss origin and setting the brand apart from the countless American micromobility companies. Swiss Design is characterized by grid-based layouts, sans-serif typefaces, photography, and asymmetrical designs. Impact is achieved through dramatic use of scale, bold and directional typography, and intentional photography crops.
Wordmark
The BOND wordmark is constructed using perfect circles to form the bowls of the letters. The thickness of the stroke is based on a 1:1 ratio between the stroke and whitespace in the bowls of the ‘B’. The width of the letters is optimized to fit the space on the frame of the e-bike.
Symbol
The BOND symbol is constructed from repeating the ‘B’ in the wordmark four times to point north, east, south, and west. The fills are converted to strokes to create a more refined shape. The symbol represents the freedom of movement BOND provides users whilst also giving a nod to the Swiss flag – a symbol of quality across the globe.
Iconography
BOND’s iconography is constructed from the center square of the symbol. These abstract icons reinforce the BOND brand language, and are used to embody messages that are not easily depicted with a literal representation.
